Obligation to report to KommAustria: What YouTubers should do now

At the beginning of September, the Austrian Communications Authority (KommAustria) sent information letters to several owners of Austrian YouTube channels, drawing their attention to the legal obligation to report the start of operations of a so-called audio-visual media service. According to the Audiovisual Media Services Act (AMD-G), providers of on-demand media services (on-demand service providers) must notify KommAustria of their activities at least two weeks before KommAustria becomes the competent authority.

The media echo that followed revealed uncertainty among some YouTubers. Trending Topics has already reported on this matter. What is behind this information from KommAustria?
